The Black August hip hop project has been at the forefront of hip hop, civil and human rights issues for over a decade. If you are D.C. on November 17th this is a highly recommended event.

What a great start to the morning! I saw this posted on a DJ friend of mine’s facebook page and I had to let the world see this. Another friend of mine insisted that I see Maimouna and I first saw her perform about a year and a half ago in D.C. where she co-hosted a show with Asheru. She is immensely talented and definitely knows how to perform in front of a live audience. Did I tell you all I love home(Gonna stay on the Maryland tip) I mean I put old bay on breakfast food…well not really. But this place called Maryland runs in my veins, when we say the bay sorry San Fran, we talking about the Chesapeake. I need Blue Crabs, hold the Oysters. Club music and Go-Go warms my heart and I support all the hometown teams, yeah the Wizards gonna shine this year. P.G. D.C., Bmore, the Eastern Shore and our OC all mean something. Why the whole intro? Because my two homegirls(clears throat) Miss DJ Gemz and Mrs.(yep) Darin Little as she has been known to be called love this place just as much and they are putting out a mixtape to prove it. I did not think so many people would be watching the BET documentary “My mic sounds nice” but they did! RA the MC got a nod in the documentary and today she drops her LP, “Heart of a Champion” RA has been performing seemingly everywhere the past couple of years, she headed out to SXSW earlier this year, NYC, and of course the DMV.
