If you are like me and you are temporarily loosing your mind right now at the mere thought don’t worry it’s natural. I mean it’s A. Tribe. Called. Quest. For me personally, they are my hip hop genesis along with the rest of the native tongues. I have seen them about 4 times as a group and have gone nuts every time. So enough typing without further ado “Beats, Rhymes and Fights”The history of A Tribe Called Quest, filmed by Micheal Rapaport
If you missed it here is footage of A Tribe Called Quest at Rock the Bells: DMV 2010
This documentary is a must, as you all know this site is very much about music. It is such a comprehensive look from an objective point of view of American music. The documentary is narrated by Forest Whitaker(nuff said) Make sure you watch it.
Here is a sneak peep via the documentary trailer

I am a firm believer that there is nothing like a man in a tailored suit! Some reading right now might not know about Designer/Tailor Ozwald Boateng but in the fashion world he’s ‘kind of a big deal’ I first learned about him not too long actually earlier this year while watching Dhani Tackles the globe on the travel channel. If you have been checking the site and reading for a while you will know that I support people of African descent globally. I think his story is one that should be known worldwide because of the barriers he has broken as well as the notoriety he has achieved. I recently featured the short documentary “L.A. is my playground” and it’s something I will do more of so check out the trailer for the documentary ‘A Man’s Story’ I am looking forward to seeing the documentary in its entirety.
Get to know a little more about Mr. Boateng
The Black August hip hop project has been at the forefront of hip hop, civil and human rights issues for over a decade. If you are D.C. on November 17th this is a highly recommended event.

Well that’s how I feel right now, don’t know why but I’ve been on this Cuba tip lately so I figure I’ve put some more of that flavor out there in the world. First off check out the CLASSIC! Documentary “Buena Vista Social Club” in it’s entirety, posted on youtube no less by the film company! What?! yeah take some time and absorb this.
Definitely not done, it’s funny how things collide or coincide should I say. Mos Def’s “Black on Both Sides” was released in 1999, the same year as Buena Vista Social Club, there was a bunch of stuff released that year that is now classic but in spring 2000 when I was on my first trip to South Florida it just so happened to be during the “Elian Gonzalez” situation and I happened to be in South Florida when he was taken back to Cuba which was a HUGE deal. Not only is this still one of my favorite albums, one of the most quoted but I love this video. When I saw Mos went to Cuba It made me love this song even more.
